The reason why cast iron is used in kitchen utensils may be that it is easily shaped and conducts heat well and evenly. In addition, the fact that it does not contain harmful materials is one of the very important criteria for human health. As we know, although Teflon is preferred due to its non-stick feature and being lighter than cast iron, many authorities today recommend reducing the use of Teflon or using it in accordance with the conditions of use due to the toxic materials it contains. Cast iron is also widely used for toasters. Especially industrial machines are made of cast iron. The disadvantages of cast iron are that it is heavy and heats up slowly. 2. Use of cast iron in gear wheel production. One of the areas of use of cast iron is gear wheels.  Cast iron, which has high wear resistance and is sufficiently durable, is the preferred material, especially for large diameter and moderate torque transmissions. Other factors why it is preferred are that it is easy to process, can be cast in one piece, and has low production costs. It is also a plus that cast iron provides self-lubrication thanks to the graphite it contains. It is not recommended to use cast iron for high torque transmission. Instead, more durable steel gears are used. 3. Use of cast iron in engine block production Cast iron is widely used for complex shaped designs due to its production method. Cast iron is also used in the production of engine blocks. Nowadays, aluminum and its alloys are widely used because they are lighter and increase performance. However, cast iron is still widely used because its production costs are affordable and it provides sufficient strength conditions.
